Virgil van Dijk (pronounced [vɑn ˈdɛik]; Breda, North Brabant, The Netherlands, July 8, 1991) is a Dutch footballer. He plays defense and his current team is Liverpool Football Club of the English Premier League. He has been international with the Netherlands national team since 2015.

At the time of his signing for Liverpool FC, his transfer was the most expensive ever paid by a defender at a cost of 85 million euros. Title that in 2019 was seized by Harry Maguire for which Manchester United disbursed 88 million euros. euros.
